You know what happened nationally.
But with the strong results achieved by Second Amendment supporters right here in Ohio on November 8, it’s time for our State Legislature to get to work.
There can be no more broken promises. No more excuses.
Instead, it’s time for legislators to DELIVER with passage of Stand-Your-Ground and Constitutional Carry to restore Ohio’s place as one of the leading pro-Second Amendment states in the country.

As your membership in Ohio Gun Owners comes up for renewal for 2017, I hope you’ll consider being as generous as you possibly can.
But first, I wanted you to know just how much of a difference you’re making — and how much I’m counting on you to continue fighting alongside Ohio Gun Owners in the coming year.
As a perennial presidential battleground state, Ohio is going to remain at the top of the gun-grabbers’ priority list — until you and I slam the door.
As long as we allow legislators in Columbus to weasel out of their campaign promises and hand us nothing but excuses, it’s only sending the message to BILLIONAIRE gun-grabbers like Michael Bloomberg and George Soros that our state is ripe for the takeover.
After all, Ohio is in desperate need of pro-gun reforms. According to Guns & Ammo Magazine, there are only 15 states in the country with worse gun laws!
And with other states busy reforming their gun laws, we’re getting left in the dust!
I’m afraid all of this sends a message to gun-grabbers that if our Republican-led government is too scared to pass pro-gun legislation — then maybe that means it’s time for gun-grabbers to set up shop!
That’s why it’s time to insist on IMMEDIATE passage of:
*** The Ohio Stand-Your-Ground Bill, which would simply state that law-abiding Ohio gun owners can defend themselves against attackers without fear of legal backlash from an anti-gun prosecutor or judge.
As it stands today, 49 states in our country require prosecutors to disprove a self-defense claim in order to convict a law-abiding gun owner for standing up against criminal attack.
But in Ohio, the burden of proof rests on YOU to prove you acted reasonably! That’s why some experts say Ohio has the WORST self-defense law in the country.
*** Constitutional Carry, which would restore the right of Ohio citizens to carry a firearm to protect themselves and their families –- WITHOUT going through a bunch of bureaucratic rigmarole or paying expensive fees.
If you’re legal to own it, you’re legal to carry it.
PERIOD.
Just in the past two years, Constitutional Carry has passed in Kansas, Maine, Idaho, West Virginia, Mississippi and Missouri.
In Maine, it passed with a Democrat State Senate. In Missouri and West Virginia, it passed with a Democrat Governor. So there’s no reason why Constitutional Carry can’t soon be reality here.
And they shouldn’t make us wait around for months either — not if they’re interested in keeping any good will with grassroots Second Amendment supporters.
We all know that politicians crave the power that majorities bring.
Without Second Amendment supporters, there would be no Republican majorities in Columbus today. PERIOD!
In fact, the gun issue was THE decisive factor in several of the most important races across the state, including:
>>> House District 37, where pro-Second Amendment State Rep. Kristina Roegner (R) held off a fierce challenge by Obama insider Casey Weinstein (D);
>>> House District 53, where pro-gun challenger Candice Keller (R) defeated an establishment squish during the primaries and went onto defeat anti-gun Democrat Suzi Rubin (D) in the November elections;
>>> House District 74, where pro-gun Republican Bill Dean defeated gun control advocate Barb Niemeyer.
These three victories — along with leaders like Ron Hood, Nino Vitale, Tom Brinkman and others — gives us a solid core of support as we get to work in the Ohio House.
Thanks to your support, we’re proving just how strong Second Amendment supporters are in Ohio.
But in my years of working in gun politics, I’ve learned that legislators don’t reward people just because they’re nice.
And I’ve learned that nothing ever moves unless it’s pushed. So the victories we saw on election night will be wasted if we don’t translate them into pro-gun reforms.
That’s why now it’s time to push — and push HARD.
Legislators aren’t going to stop playing games. They’re not going to stop trying to weasel out of their campaign promises. They’re not going to suddenly stop being politicians and turn into saints.
That’s why we have to be as tough and as engaged as ever. We have to make sure they know that we will not rest until we get what we want.
You’re a critical part of sending that message. And you’re a critical part of Ohio Gun Owners’ winning team.
You see, this organization isn’t run or funded by some out-of-state gazillionaire playboy. It’s controlled and funded by Ohio Second Amendment supporters just like you.
You’ve seen the impact your support can make. In a world of organizations promising wins and delivering nothing, Ohio Gun Owners is proving that we can deliver.
Now, I’m counting on you to help keep this winning streak going.
