How Ohio Gun Owners Fights — and Wins

Ohio Gun Owners wasn’t built to kiss rings or win praise from the “Permanent Columbus” political class.

We were built to mobilize gun owners, expose political cowards, and pass pro-gun legislation — even if it rips out tail feathers in the Statehouse.

From the beginning, we knew this approach would come at a cost. We could’ve taken the safe route — only go after Democrats, praise every Republican with an “R” after their name, and hand out endorsements like candy just to stay on the insiders’ good side.

But that’s not why we exist. We’re not here to protect politicians. We’re here to protect your gun rights.

Founding Roots: Built for Battle

Long before pro-gun champions like Rep. Jennifer Gross and Rep. Tex Fischer picked up the torch, Ohio Gun Owners was already in the fight — thanks to the help and support of true legislative warriors like the late Rep. Ron Hood, the late Senator Kris Jordan, and former State Reps Tom Brinkman and Bill Dean.

These men understood something that too many in Columbus still don’t: the Second Amendment doesn’t need to be negotiated. It needs to be defended — with spine, not smiles.

They stood shoulder-to-shoulder with us from the very beginning, and their legacy lives on in the victories we’ve won — and the battles still ahead.

Most gun groups in Ohio still chase “access.” They want to be liked. They’ll praise a lawmaker for filing a bill — even if that lawmaker kills it in committee. They’ll hand out “A” ratings and endorsements to politicians who stab gun owners in the back when it counts.
Why? Because they value relationships with politicians more than loyalty to the people who they are supposed to be fighting for and fund them.

Most groups stay quiet when a Republican kills a gun bill. Some even praise them. Not us.
When a politician betrays gun owners, we bring the heat — especially in primaries.
We roll out digital ads, videos, direct mail, door-to-door literature, radio, even billboards — whatever it takes to make sure gun owners in their district know the truth before they hit the ballot box.

And win or lose, every politician in Columbus gets the message: if you cross gun owners, you’ll have to answer to pissed off gun voters for it.

While primaries are where we clean house, general elections are where we punish gun-grabbing Democrats — especially in swing districts.

Other groups might mail a tired postcard or publish a sleepy “scorecard.” We flood districts with customized outreach — radio, TV, digital ads, texts, four-page mailers — all tailored to how gun owners in that area consume information.

Our team tracks engagement and optimizes everything in real time. That means our message lands, it spreads, and it sticks.
