🚨 BREAKING: AG Yost Backs Gun Owners, Says County Fairs Can’t Ban Guns!
Ohio Attorney General Dave Yost has just issued a formal legal opinion backing what Ohio Gun Owners has been active, mobilizing against and saying all along:
County agricultural societies are political subdivisions — and they CANNOT ban guns at county fairs.
That means all those so-called “gun-free zone” signs you see being put up by your local fair boards “on the advice of counsel?”
🚫 They violate Ohio law.
This AG opinion carries real legal weight, especially if future lawsuits are filed or if the AG chooses to intervene on behalf of gun owners like you.
And we didn’t get here by accident.
We got here because Ohio Gun Owners members took action.
- You sent emails.
- You made calls.
- You supported this fight when others sat on the sidelines.
And patriots like longtime Ohio gun rights activist and friend of Ohio Gun Owners, Jeffry Smith, took it a step further last summer by teaming up with OGO’s staff to openly carry at the Champaign County Fair, defying illegal signs, enduring threats of arrest, and standing his ground.
That bold act of defiance — backed by legal threats, video documentation, and OGO’s exposure campaign — forced the issue into the spotlight and the AG’s office responded.
👉 This is a win for gun owners and a major setback for petty tyrants sitting on county fair boards, sheriffs, and anti-gun prosecutors who think they have power over our God-given right to Keep and Bear Arms.
