Speaker Matt Huffman: The Gun Rights Obstacle-in-Chief in Columbus

Wed, Feb 18, 2026

You wanna know why Ohio’s top pro-gun bills are stalled?

One man is directly responsible: Speaker Matt Huffman.

Despite so-called “term limits,” Huffman has been continuously “serving” in the Ohio House since January 2007. Power in Columbus flows through him.

Last General Assembly, as President of the Ohio Senate, Huffman worked overtime, publicly and privately, to stop SAPA from advancing to his chamber.

Now, as Speaker of the Ohio House, he is the single biggest obstacle blocking:

HB382 – Second Amendment Protection Act
HB495 – Freedom to Carry Act
HB498 – Ohio Self-Defense Act

➜➜    Huffman has received huge amounts of campaign contributions from Jeffry Epstein’s global pedophile ring co-conspirator (as identified by the Department of Justice) Les Wexner, going all the way back to 2008.
➜➜    Huffman personally appointed the most notorious anti-gun Republican in the House, Cynthia Abrams, to chair the House Public Safety Committee.
➜➜    Huffman personally assigned these three bills to her committee.
➜➜    And as Speaker and Chairman of the Rules Committee, Huffman controls whether these bills move or die.

Meanwhile, look at Virginia.

Within hours of Democrats taking a state government Trifecta, they rammed through Universal Gun Registration, bans on AR-15s, magazine restrictions, and are now moving to repeal carry protections for lawful citizens, even retired law enforcement.

Speaker Huffman is creating a vacuum for Ohio’s gun-control lobby to advance. That is unacceptable.

Please take 60 seconds right now to:

As Speaker of the Ohio House, we’re positive he’d love to hear from voters/constituents directly. Please be polite as possible (because he is totally disrespecting 2nd Amendment voters), but firm.

Suggested Text Message:

Matt, Ohio Gun Owners has brought it to my attention that you have not done your job as Speaker of the Ohio House, which is to advance conservative, pro-gun policy. Worse, as Chairman of the House Rules Committee, you deliberately sent HB382, HB495 and HB498 to Cynthia Abrams’ kill committee. This is unacceptable behavior, especially when Democrats, if they were in charge, would not hesitate to advance their gun-control agenda were they in power. Move the bills immediately.

Be relentless.

The fact of the matter is that we cannot afford to wait another ten years to get these God-given rights codified in state statute.

If we are going to break this political log jam and pass true firearms freedom in Ohio, we must focus our efforts on Speaker Huffman.

For Freedom,

Chris Dorr, Director
Ohio Gun Owners

P.S. Nobody else is going to put massive pressure on these politicians. If you can contribute $500, $50, $5 or anything in between, do it right now. Help us turn up the heat and force action.
