On January 29, 2024, Pizzulli returned the Ohio Gun Owners candidate survey. Question 3 asked: "If elected, would you support strengthening Ohio's Constitutional Carry law to give gun owners in Ohio the freedom to carry whatever legal self-defense tool that they choose, and allow Ohio citizens the ability to carry shotguns and rifles in their vehicle?" Pizzulli's written answer: Sponsor, Co-Sponsor.

Pizzulli promised to support the Freedom to Carry Act, then voted against it.

The goal of the Freedom to Carry Act was simple: let law-abiding Ohioans carry the legal firearm they choose, not just a handgun. Under it, Ohio's concealed handgun license would have become a concealed weapons license, and anyone allowed to carry concealed, with or without a license, could carry any gun Ohio and federal law allow them to have, starting at age 18 instead of 21. And it would have let you keep a loaded firearm, including a rifle or shotgun, in your vehicle, and taken suppressors and short barreled rifles and shotguns off Ohio's dangerous ordnance list.

On June 10, 2026, Pizzulli voted against the Freedom to Carry Act (amendment 3085 to House Bill 667). It went down 75 to 21. (Ohio House Journal, June 10, 2026, page 2236.)

That one vote on the Freedom to Carry Act cost you:

  • A concealed weapons license to carry any lawful weapon
  • Permitless carry at 18, not 21
  • Rifles and shotguns in your vehicle
  • Suppressors, short barreled rifles and short barreled shotguns off Ohio's dangerous ordnance list
