k’BOOM! Major Success at Today’s Hearing

Your texts, phone calls and emails slammed it outta’ the park today!

They worked so well that the politicians on the House Government Oversight committee did NOT move a sub bill or any weakening amendments – as we we had been warned about beforehand.

However, we are not out of the woods.

As our bill (HB227) is currently written, it repeals the current prohibition on carrying a firearm for self-defense in places of worship in Ohio.

That means you’d be able to protect yourselves, your family, and your fellow worshippers in the case of a shooting, UNLESS that church or place of worship outright bans weapons on the premises.

However, rumors are already swirling that two (and possibly more) Republicans on the committee want to reinsert the awful current default prohibition on carrying at churches and reinstate Ohio’s Criminal Safe Zones at churches.

We’ve all seen instances where someone carrying a firearm in church has stopped a mass casualty event – like the West Freeway Church of Christ shooting in White Settlement, TX.

Jack Wilson saved countless lives that day by taking down the gunman within 6 seconds of the killer opening fire from the back pew.

We also saw what happened at the Tree of Life Synagogue in Pittsburgh, when a place of worship is shot up without anyone in the room being able to fight back.

Of course, nothing about HB227 would prohibit a church from not allowing firearms – they would simply be required to placard their prohibition on weapons just like any other criminal safe zone in Ohio.

That’s why we’ve got to fight this and not let the lousy politicians gut our bill before it even makes it out of committee.

The fact is, this is about life and death.

So where do we go from here?

The next theoretical date for a hearing would be October 28, as the House is not meeting next week.

Here at OGO we have spent the afternoon preparing the next phase of our pressure campaign to make sure that the politicians know that their constituents want the bill passed through committee AS IS.

We will start implementing that program next week, so be on the lookout for that.

We used a lot of resources on the campaigns that were unleashed over the last week, and it was YOUR actions based on those pressure campaigns that ultimately led to today’s committee hearing…

… and the STOPPING of today’s attempts to pass weakening amendments!

We need to keep the momentum going and keep our feet on the gas pedal.

But what we need most right now is your generous financial support to help make it possible to unleash even more political pressure (pain) on the politicians.

OGO is ready for war and is eager to do everything necessary, and we would gratefully use whatever you can to chip into this fight.

So please consider a donation to Ohio Gun Owners today and help us continue this fight for Constitutional Carry and hold these politicians’ feet to the fire!

Stay tuned for more later.
