Your phone calls, emails and Tweets demanding a fix to stop HB228 from making felons out of law-abiding gun owners on March 28th are working!
Only moments ago, Senator Kristina Roegner (R-Hudson) introduced Senate Bill 53 which would FIX HB228 and prevent its disastrous enactment.
As you know, due to a drafting error in last year’s HB228 that was perpetuated by the incompetence of the bill sponsors and managers, unless a fix is enacted before March 28th of this year, gun owners who own popular firearms like the AR15 would be in possession of “dangerous ordnance” and vulnerable to a felony charge.
Quite frankly, we can’t work to pass other pro-gun legislation until this major blunder is fixed.
The solution is a bill with an “emergency legislation” clause, because emergency legislation goes into effect immediately upon the governor’s signature.
As you can see in line 212 of the bill, Senator Roegner’s SB53 is exactly the fix that gun owners deserve.
