Bad Gun Vote Happening TODAY!!

Gun owners,

The House Federalism Committee isn’t picking up what gun-owners are laying down.

As you know, Ohio Gun Owners members and supporters have been pounding the pavement for Constitutional Carry, nearly passing it through the Federalism committee this spring.

And all summer long, we’ve been busy mobilizing more gun owners across the state in preparation a second attempt at passing it through committee this fall.

But in addition to HB 201, Representative Ron Hood’s Constitutional Carry bill, there are a few other gun bills making their way through the Statehouse.

HB 142 is one of them.

Originally, HB 142 rightfully removed the duty for law-abiding citizens to inform officers upon contact that they were exercising their 2nd Amendment Right to bear a firearm.

That’s the way it is in dozens of states across the country, and that’s the way it should be.

You don’t need to notify an officer you’re worshipping freely, exercising your free speech rights or expect to be secure from unwarranted searches and seizure, either.

But now the establishment gun-lobby and their politician pals are getting a hold of it.

At today’s 3pm committee hearing in Statehouse room 116, they want to gut and stuff HB 142 with substitute language that destroys that original intent!

Specifically, not only do they want to restore the “duty to notify,” but they want to INCREASE the duty of a CHL holder to physically produce their CHL card as well any time an officer asks to see your identification!

Of course, the politicians still want the praise of gun owners.

So to make the compromise pill they’re brewing taste good, they’re lowering the fines and jailtime you’ll receive if you don’t notify the officer.

How cute.

The House Federalism Committee needs to hear from you right away this morning – they aren’t listening to We the People!

Please take a moment to contact the members of the House Federalism committee right away this morning!

Call them, email them or send them a Facebook message.

Either way, your message to them is clear:

Stop playing games with the Second Amendment – Vote DOWN the substitute language on HB 142 and instead pass HB 201!”

If you can call them or email them individually, that would be the most effective way you can help.

But if you are short on time and want to send them all one pre-written email, please click here.

Your message?

Tell them that:

1. Gun owners in Ohio are sick and tired of getting treated like a red-headed step-child and being told to get to the back of the bus.

2. Ohio citizens are more than capable of deciding what we want right here in Ohio – we don’t need someone calling the shots from out-of-state.

3. If the Federalism Committee is going to gut and stuff HB 142 like a rotten Thanksgiving Turkey, you don’t want their stinky deal.

4. Instead, they should focus their efforts on passing HB 201, which also removes the “duty to notify” mandate with ZERO compromises!

While other states are busy passing major overhauls like Constitutional Carry and Stand-Your-Ground law – both desperately needed here in Ohio – this compromise is unacceptable.

With pro-gun super majorities like no time in Ohio history, now is the time to pass HUGE pro-gun bills, not back-peddling compromises like these.

So please contact the members of the House Federalism committee right away!

And when you are done, please consider chipping in just $10 or $20 to help us mobilize hundreds of gun owners across the state to join us in this fight!

For Freedom,

Chris Dorr
Executive Director
Ohio Gun Owners

P.S. The politicians on the House Federalism Committee are meeting TODAY at 3pm to try to gut HB 142 and permanently enshrine our unconstitutional “duty to notify” an officer when you are exercising your right to bear arms!

Please read the email above and contact the members of the Federalism Committee right away and tell them “NO STINKY DEAL” on your gun rights!

When you are done, please consider chipping in $10 or $20 to help us mobilize gun owners across the state to join our fight!
