While many gun owners have rightfully been focused on what’s happening to our gun rights in Columbus, we can’t take our eye off of Washington, D.C.
As we’ve warned you about for some time, federal ‘Red Flag Gun Seizure’ legislation is the most dangerous federal-level threat that gun owners have faced in a very long time!
That’s because rather than attack a specific firearm or accessory, ‘Red Flag Gun Seizure’ legislation allows a gun owner to have ALL of his firearms seized before ever setting foot in a court room.
Of course, members and supporters of Ohio Gun Owners know all about Red Flag gun-control after our successful defeat of former-Governor Kasich’s HB585 from last year.
But making matters far worse, the NRA is publicly supporting this legislation and is strongly urging Congress to pass this bill, as we previously reported (scroll to 23:15)!
And that’s why it’s urgent that you sign the petition that we’ve prepared for you calling on Republican US Senator Rob Portman to OPPOSE ‘Red Flag Gun Seizures!’
You see, Senator Sherrod Brown has already pledged to support Red Flag Gun Seizures.
In fact, many believe Senator Brown, though not the most outspoken, may in fact be THE most anti-gun Senator stalking the halls of Congress.
But with Republican betrayal of gun owners becoming all too common, we cannot be too straight-forward with Rob Portman when it comes to how gun owners expect him to vote!
If enacted, ‘Red Flag Gun Seizure’ legislation would allow virtually anyone to make a claim that you are a danger to yourself or someone else — and petition a judge to order you stripped of your firearms via a secret hearing.
Known as ex-parte proceedings, these hearings take place in your absence. This means you will have no ability to question your accuser, provide your own evidence, or testify in your own defense.
In fact, the first time you will be made aware of this is when law enforcement officers come to your home to seize your firearms.
In other words, your right to keep and bear arms will be obliterated via a secret court hearing, and before you’ve been CHARGED, ARRESTED, OR CONVICTED OF ANYTHING!
Senator Lindsey Graham is the Chairman of the Judiciary Committee where this bill will be heard.
While Graham may have made a name for himself during the Kavanaugh hearings, it is important to remember that Senator Graham has received hundreds of thousands of dollars from NYC anti-gun kingpin Michael Bloomberg – meaning that this bill will have Graham’s active support.
And with Graham’s support, this Bloomberg-backed gun-control has huge potential to pass through committee, and that’s why we have to let Senator Portman know that gun owners are a 100% NO!
So please, take a moment to sign your petition immediately!
I don’t know about you, but the very idea that Senate Republicans are giving Nancy Pelosi, Dianne Feinstein, and Michel Bloomberg exactly what they want is infuriating.
Rather than be on offense and pass pro-gun bills like National Reciprocity legislation, Senator Graham and his allies are telegraphing their willingness to play ball with radical gun control.
So please sign your petition opposing this bill.
From radio ads to massive amounts of targeted social media, Ohio Gun Owners needs to be ready to roll out a huge program to pour calls and emails into Portman’s office.
