Happy Thanksgiving, Web!

On behalf of the board of directors, I want to wish you a Happy Thanksgiving from Ohio Gun Owners!

I hope you have a wonderful holiday weekend with family and friends that you may not have seen for some time.

When the weekend is over, I also hope that you’ll redouble your commitment to the fight over the Second Amendment here in Ohio.

We Ohioans have a lot to be thankful for, including the fact that Hillary Clinton is not in the White House!

We can also be thankful for the appointment of Neal Gorsuch to the US Supreme Court, increasing our chances of having pro-gun rulings from the Supreme Court!

As you know, for the past year Ohio Gun Owners has been making a major push to pass HB201, the Constitutional Carry bill.

In the 2018 legislative session, our fight to pass Constitutional Carry will expand to include a major offensive to push for Stand-Your-Ground law as well!

Stand-Your-Ground law does four simple things:

1. It removes the current duty to retreat that is required of law abiding citizens in Ohio, before you can defend yourself or your loved ones from a violent attacker;

2. Shifts the burden of proof to the prosecution. Right now in Ohio a gun owner who was forced to defend himself from violent attack must prove he or she acted in self-defense.

3. Provides immunity from criminal prosecution, preventing anti-gun prosecutors from pursuing politically motivated trials against law-abiding gun owners;

4. Provides immunity from civil lawsuits as well, preventing thugs or their family from coming back and suing you for your entire family wealth for simply defending yourself.

This common-sense law is already on the books in dozens of states, including Iowa and Missouri which passed it this past year.

The momentum is building, but that doesn’t mean it’s going to be an easy fight. We’re going to need all hands on deck as the session kicks off.

I hope to be able to make an announcement regarding our bill sponsor for the upcoming session soon.

In the meantime, I again hope that you have a wonderful Thanksgiving weekend with your family!

Lastly, if you’ve not yet renewed your membership in Ohio Gun Owners for the upcoming year, feel free to do so now!

For Freedom,

Chris Dorr

P.S. Happy Thanksgiving from the board of Ohio Gun Owners, I hope you enjoy the weekend with your family and friends.

Next session we will be mounting a major push for Stand-Your-Ground law in the legislature, so get ready for a major political fight!

In the meantime, if you’ve not renewed your membership in Ohio Gun Owners, please consider doing so now
